Friends,
It is a new year, and with a new year I'm inspired to start new things! That includes not only carrying over goals from 2010, but create new ministry goals and objectives for the ministry of RetroSwitch.
**RetroSwitch's mission is to provide a positive, exciting, interactive and educational experience, promoting artists and ministries through the medium of radio.
I'm known as a visionary guy, and while that can be a good thing, there is a time and place for the "details," something my wife is really good at! Over the Christmas season I've had time to reflect on the real things in life, like the importance of time spent with my family. What I do with RetroSwitch is also important to me, and while it's a totally voluntary ministry, I don't mind; it's a passion, going on the radio, promoting the latest in Christian music (or the earliest!), but I've acknowledged while it's great to "think big," taking my show national or something like that, isn't always the best thing, at least right away.
That is why it's important to start within. Within means starting here at Faith FM in Kitchener, the place that allows me to do what I love. It means connecting with other volunteers and staff, promoting their shows on mine and encouraging one another. Since Faith FM is a community-based radio station, there are many volunteers or Christian businesses/ministries promoting themselves. Whether they pay to advertise, or volunteer and do a show like I do, their focus is all the same - giving all glory to God.
Below are RetroSwitch's ministry objectives for 2011, reinforcing RetroSwitch's mission in "providing a positive, exciting, interactive and educational experience, promoting artists and ministries." Please support me in praying through these objectives, and if you can help in ANY way, through prayer, radio interviews, etc., let me know!
1. Promote other Faith FM programs on RetroSwitch Live. It starts from within, so if I promote other programs with their ministry objectives, they may see we're all on the same page, giving all glory to God, advancing the gospel. Then, because this is infectious, our audiences locally and worldwide will see ministry not only being done on RetroSwitch Live, but Faith FM as a whole (Acts 1:8).
2. Partner with other ministries. If you'd like exposure on RetroSwitch Live, this blog, or other programs on Faith FM, let me know! Whether it be a simple interview with an artist or author, or you'd like to pay for advertising, I can hook you up!
3. Passing on the 'RetroSwitch experience' to other radio stations. Is your local radio station needing an hour of programming? Community radio stations look for volunteers to fill their time slots. RetroSwitch Live is an alternative to regular radio-listening, and while it always focuses on biblical principles, it's a fit to secular minded radio stations as well. At least, I think so!
*Of course, we'll still keep up with what works on RetroSwitch Live. Steve, the Retro Insider, profiles an artist once monthly. The "Youth Radio Series" continues this year with topics like inner-city ministry and youth ministy/church administration principles. And I love profiling newer artists! Of course, we'll play music from days gone by, given I have 'retro' in the title ;).
Share this blog with people you know by choosing your method of choice below.
Peace and love,
Parker
