So I suppose it's time to use this blog for the purpose it was meant for - blogging! There's nothing wrong with being a dj on RetroSwitch Live, playing the best music and promoting area ministry programs. While I use a radio show as a ministry forum, I appreciate this tablet for a more personal one. So here it goes...
The ministry of RetroSwitch is really amazing. I mean, being a dj on the radio is a pretty sweet gig! I love taking calls, playing cool music, having you listen to my voice as my inner personality takes off. I'd love for RetroSwitch to be more than an hour-a-week show. I'd love to have a longer show time, investing more time into the ministry, but my wife (and co-founder of this ministry!) reminds me of the work I do for a living and to maintain focus on what I'm already putting more time into. That's right! Driving a courier truck!
I love my day job. It isn't necessarily my dream job, but I love driving, listening to the radio and most of all - and more importantly - meeting people and building relationships with them over time.
I drive a route that includes downtown Kitchener, Ontario. Kitchener is a city of over 200 thousand, and like many large city cores, it's one struggling to find its own identity. Many efforts are being conducted not only to improve the beauty of the core, but meet the needs of a growing population. I'm blessed to work in an area where I can buy a coffee for a homeless person now and then. I like to buy used books or DVDs from stores in an area only hurt by large box stores elsewhere. I enjoy delivering parcels to my customers and bringing a smile.
Sometimes it pays to make a difference in a job I'm doing for a living, and not only within an weekly hour-long radio program. Til next blog, this is Parker digging into the core ;).
