Tune in to the RetroSwitch Launch May 8th!

RetroSwitch has been in existence for 4+ years. Formally called Retro Rewind, RetroSwitch has become more than just a one hour retro music show. Not only has it been broadcasted on Faith FM in Kitchener, but at one time on a web-based Christian radio program. Now, with a new name and format, RetroSwitch not only plays music, but features guests such as Steve, the Retro Insider, who profiles an artist monthly. Interviews with new artists are profiled on "Future Forward," a segment on the program that forecasts the future of these artists. Now, RetroSwitch is on the world wide web with its own social networks, with a blog, Facebook page, and a webcam feed at www.stickam.com/retroswitch.
It is not only because of these changes have I decided to host a RetroSwitch launch, but to praise God for the future of the ministry. On Friday, May 8th, RetroSwitch will invite the Retro Insider in for an hour to banter with me and phone callers. Two questions will be asked:

1. What is the best experience at a concert you've been at?
2. What artist do you wish you could have seen before they retired?

You, too, can make a note here, or email retroswitch@live.com with answers to these questions. They will be read that night, and hey, you can banter about them on this forum! And official invite to listen/watch will be sent closer to the time. Stay tuned!

I was listening to your show on the radio tonight--I didn't know about the launch, but stumbled upon it while driving. I was interested in sharing a concert story or two from about 10-15 years ago (is that retro?), but didn't hear the "phone lines open" or didn't hear the number in the twenty minutes it took me to reach my destination at which point I had to turn off the radio and exit the car!

A couple of favourite stories:
Seeing Hokus Pick about 10 times over a couple of years to the point where they recognized me; particularly liking the first time I heard them play Gelatin and watched the crowd move. And liked it when they brought along Riley Armstrong and other horn players. You know, when skanking was the thing?

Bringing MxPx and 90lb Wuss to their first show in Ontario...they were delayed at the border for a long time and so the concert was in chaos. And Tom couldn't eat the egg salad sandwiches that the church ladies had prepared because he was vegan and no one in our small town really knew what that meant! But I was really excited to be a bit of a backstage groupie, especially when I had to go get Mike a bandaid. The 90lb Wuss guy was really down-to-earth and cool. Value Pac was supposed to come, but gave up with the border guards. Didn't like them as much after that!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to tuning in again.

Hello, Beth!

Thanks for your input and I do apologize for not giving the phone numbers during the time you listened!

I, too, have seen Hokus Pick a few times over a couple of years, and "Snappy" is one of my top 5 albums I have ever bought.

Please continue to listen to RetroSwitch Live, and welcome to the RetroSwitch ministry.
